The National Monuments Service's description
On the crest towards the E end of a low WNW-ESE ridge. Rectangular grass-covered area (dims 39.5m NNE-SSW; 36.3m WNW-ESE) planted with mature deciduous trees and defined by flat-bottomed moats (Wth of top 6-10m; Wth of base 2.3-3.3m; D 1-1.6m) and outer flat-topped banks (Wth of base 6.5-8.3m; Wth of top 3-4.9m; H 0.25-0.9m). There is no identifiable original entrance (max. ext. dims 63m N-S; 60m E-W), and the monument is surrounded by field banks. Knox (1911, 313-16) describes an attached 'outer garth' which is probably a field (dims c. 40m E-W; c. 15m N-S) (RO034-045002-) to the N and E enclosed by further fosses and banks, but there is no evidence of these features now.
