The National Monuments Service's description

This site is located in the industrial peatlands of Cloonshannagh Bog. It was first recorded in the 2013 Peatland Reassessment Survey as located on the field surface alongside the drain edge. It was composed of brushwood elements many of which had bark intact and were identifiable as birch (Whitaker 2014).

The site was excavated in 2014, under licence 14E0273, and dated to cal. AD 549-646. It consisted of very fragmentary remains of scattered brushwoods near the field surface. There was evidence of machine damage and it is possible that this represents the remains of a structure that was once more substantial. A number of small possible stakes/pegs were noted, but it is unclear what function these served within the overall structure or whether they represented disturbed elements (Coughlan and Whitaker 2019).
