The National Monuments Service's description
The site was reported by Mr J. Kilmurray (BnM Bog Supervisor Mountlucas and Clonad Bogs). The walls of the structure (dims. 4m N-S x 4m E-W; H 2m) were composed of planks laid edge to edge and the floor, or possibly the collapsed roof, consisted of heather. Pegs secured the external corners where the ends of the planks protruded beyond the ends of each wall. Entry into the structure was via a 'trap gate' device. Items contained within the structure included a 'wooden spool' and a circle of burnt timbers. There was also a sub-rectangular timber object (L c. 0.6m; Wth c. 0.12m D c. 0.05m). with flat sides through which ran a circular perforation containing a cylinder shaped wooden 'handle'. It apparently tapered near the end with the 'handle' and had 'grit' embedded in the other end. This 'grit' was thought to be a consequence of the object being used either for shovelling or for pounding. This site was most likely Iron Age or later in date as it was situated above SMR OF018-157----, which was dendrochronologically dated to 122±9 BC or later. No remains of this structure survive.
