The National Monuments Service's description

Three pieces of brushwood (Wth 0.35m; D 0.09m) near the bottom of the drain face. The brushwood (diam. 0.025-0.055m) are orientated N-S. One of the pieces has a metal-cut wedge point. Two of the pieces are of alder. The site lies in well-humified peat containing Sphagnum, Eriophorum and ericaceous remains. It is one of thirteen sites in close proximity in a 30m stretch of this drain, including SMR OF015-247----, 4.2m to NW, SMR OF015-253----, 5.7m to the SE. The former site incorporates brushwood and roundwoods sharing a similar orientation to this site and it is possible that the sites are related. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1996. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.

The original survey description was compiled by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin). Assessed and revised by: Caimin O'Brien, Paul Walsh
