The National Monuments Service's description
A site (L 3.24m; D 0.12m) is composed of brushwood and light roundwoods. The brushwood (diam. 0.01-0.05m) is laid up to six pieces deep in places. Towards the NW, it is more regularly orientated, with most pieces orientated NW-SE and with a small number lying perpendicular to these. The roundwoods are limited to the SE of the site where the elements are more irregularly laid. A number of possible pegs are recorded in this area, sitting at angles of c. 30-40°. A large piece of extensively worked wood (av. diam. 0.2m) lies in an E-W direction. Metal-cut toolmarks and branch-trimming are also apparent on a number of other pieces. Wood species include birch, willow and alder. The site sits in moderately humified Sphagnum peat containing small amounts of Eriophorum and ericaceous remains. It is one of thirteen sites in close proximity in a 30m stretch of this drain and lies immediately NW of SMR OF015-247---- and immediately SE of SMR OF015-251----. It is likely that these sites represent remains of a single togher, sightings of which may also include SMR OF015-246----, SMR OF015-249----, SMR OF015-250---- and SMR OF015-253----. SMR OF015-247---- has been dendrochronologically dated to AD 578-579 (Q9283), SMR OF015-250---- to AD 587±9 or later (Q9284) and SMR OF015-253---- to AD 616±9 or later (Q9289).
