The National Monuments Service's description

Located on the summit at the NW end of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. This monument is marked on McCrea’s map of County Monaghan (1793). It is a raised circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 36m WNW-ESE; 33m NNE-SSW) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth 6-7m; int. H 0.8-1m; ext. H 2.4-3m) and outer fosse (at WNW: Wth of base 1.6m; D 0.5m), but the fosse is very faint NNE-SE. There are entrance gaps at SW (Wth of base 0.9m) and SE (Wth of base 1.4m), both of which could be modern. The interior is bisected by a NNE-SSW field bank and an E-W field bank incorporates the perimeter at S.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
