The National Monuments Service's description

Located on the SW-facing slope of a NW-SE drumlin ridge. This monument is marked on McCrea’s map of County Monaghan (1793), and it is also depicted as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. 35m) described in gothic lettering as a ‘fort’ on the 1835 edition of the OS 6-inch map. Faint traces of a slightly dished and grass-covered circular area (diam. c. 30m) are within a small subrectangular field (dims c. 30-40m NE-SW; c. 40m NW-SE).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
