The National Monuments Service's description

Located on the summit of a drumlin, with rath (MO019-034----) c. 100m to the NE. This is a circular grass and rush-covered area (diam. 42m NW-SE; 40m NE-SW) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (at SE: Wth of base 7.2m; Wth of top 1.2m; int. H 1.1m; ext. H 3.4m) that is damaged W-NW. The bank is accompanied by a fosse (at SE: Wth of top 4.9m; D 0.3m) ENE-S and SW-W, and there is an outer field bank that might incorporate an outer bank SW-W. The entrance (Wth of base 2.4m) is at ENE.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
