The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on top of a drumlin. This is a circular, slightly domed, grass and rush-covered area (diam. 47.5m NE-SW: 44m NW-SE) defined by an earthen bank (at SW: Wth of base 4.8m; Wth of top 0.6m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 2.4m), and the remains of an outer fosse that can be seen N-NE but is replaced by a farm lane S-W-N. There are modern gaps in the bank at SSW and SW but the original entrance is possibly that (Wth of base 2.7m) at W. It has become more overgrown since 1968 (OSAP).

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
