The National Monuments Service's description
Located just E of a summit on an ENE-WSW drumlin ridge. This is a circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 37.5m NE-SW: 35.5m NW-SE) defined by an earthen bank (at NNE: Wth of base 3.9m; Wth of top 2.2m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.4m), with no visible fosse. It is surrounded by farm buildings NE-SW and by a farm lane SE-SW. There are modern entrances at NE and S and the original entrance is not identified. The perimeter is truncated by a NE-SW field bank at NW and a farm track runs through the centre now NE-SW (digitalglobe).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
