The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on the central summit of a WNW-ESE drumlin ridge. This is a circular overgrown area (diam. c. 35-40m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth c. 4-5m; int. H c. 0.5-0.7m; ext. H c. 1.8-2.5m) separated by a fosse (Wth of top c. 3.7m; ext. D c. 0.5m) from an outer bank (Wth c. 4.25m; ext. H c. 2.5m) and an outer fosse (Wth of base c. 2.7m; ext. D 0.6m). Both fosses and the outer bank have been removed S-W, and a lane occupies the outer fosse N-SSE. The entrance through the inner (Wth of base 2.4m) and outer (Wth of base 2.5m) banks and a causeway (Wth of top 3m; H 0.45m) are at NE.

The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
