The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on the E summit of a WNW-ESE drumlin ridge. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 37m NE-SW; 35.5m NW-SE) defined by an earthen bank (at E: Wth of base 5.2m; int. H 0.75m; ext. H 2.6m), and an external fosse (Wth 2.75-4m; max. D c. 0.5m) that survives S-W-NE, but its outer edge has been pushed in W-NW. The original entrance (Wth of base 5m) is at SE. The perimeter had been breached by farm buildings SE-S by 1995 (OSAP).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
