The National Monuments Service's description
Located at the summit of and at the S end of a NNW-SSE drumlin ridge. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 34.3m NNE-SSW; 32m WNW-ESE) defined by a grass and scrub-covered earthen bank separated by a fosse from an outer bank that is probably modern. The entrance through the inner (Wth of base 3m) and outer (Wth of base 3.6m) banks and the causeway (Wth of base 6.5m; H 0.7m) are at ENE.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
