The National Monuments Service's description

Located at the SE end of a short NW-SE drumlin ridge. This was described in 1968 as a circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 30.5m NE-SW; 29.5m NW-SE) that sloped down to the S defined by and earthen bank (Wth c. 3m; int. H c. 0.3m; ext. H c. 1.4m) NNW-NNE that was reduced to a scarp (at S: H 1.5m) elsewhere, and traces of an external fosse (Wth of base c. 2m; D c. 0.1m) W-N. The original entrance was not identified. It was removed after 2005 (OSAP).
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
