The National Monuments Service's description
Located just off the SW shore of the subrectangular Annagose Lough (dims c. 500-750m NW-SE; c. 240m NE-SW) at the NW end. It is depicted as a large island (diam. c. 30m) only on the 1907 edition of the OS 6-inch map, and is only visible when the water level is c. 0.5-1m below normal. This is a circular cairn (diam. 25m N-S; 25m E-W; H 0.5m) composed of fairly large stones. No timber structures are visible but a causeway (Wth c. 1m) of large stones leads SW to the shore.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
