The National Monuments Service's description
Situated just off the crest of a slight W-facing slope. Topsoil stripping (02E0194) in advance of a gas pipeline identified two spreads of charcoal-rich material (BGE: 1A/18/3) but the smaller (dims 1m x 0.6m) did not survive while the larger was completely excavated (02E0694). It consisted of an oval spread (dims 1.42m x 0.9m; max. T 0.2m) in a cut that was lined with a layer of dark brown silty clay with charcoal flecks and some heat-shattered stone. Above this was black silty clay with less stone and more charcoal. (Tobin 2003, 2004, 2007)
