The National Monuments Service's description
A ford is marked in the River Boyne connecting the townlands of Newgrange and Roughgrange on the 1836 and 1908 eds of the OS 6-inch map, and is extant today where the broken water can be seen on the OSI seris of aerial photographs (2005). It cannot be demonstrated but this ford would provide access to Knowth, Newgrange and Dowth directly from the S, and might have been used as a convenient access route from prehistory into the late middle ages.
