The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on a summit of a meandering NE-SW esker ridge. This is a circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 37m NNW-SSE; 36m NE-SW) defined by an earthen bank (Wth of base 4.2-5m; int. H 0.3-0.4m; ext. H 1.2-1.7m), with traces of an outer fosse (at NE: Wth of base 1.6m; ext. D 0.4m) N-NE and at SSE. The entrance is at NNE. The interior is cut by a NNE-SSW field bank towards the edge at NW, and a relict field bank extends from this to the perimeter at SE. Rath (ME022-026----) is c. 40m to the NE along the ridge.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
