The National Monuments Service's description
Situated on the northern bank of the stream marked ‘Pollbrandy’ on Ordnance Survey maps, c. 22.9m NW of MA085-005003- and slightly downs- lope from it. An overspill channel also skirts the north-western side of the mound. The fulacht fia consists of two very low ovate mounds (N–S 5.8m, E–W c. 3.7m, H 0.25m max.), c. 3m apart, the northern one more pronounced and having an exposure of burnt stone on its summit. Probing between the mounds on an E–W axis suggests that the fulacht fia was horseshoe shaped in plan and open to E.
The above description is derived from: New Survey of Clare Island. Volume 5: Archaeology. Edited by Paul Gosling, Conleth Manning and John Waddell. (Royal Irish Academy, Dublin. 2007). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated.
