Ringfort - rath

In pasture, located on a low rise, overlooked by rising ground to S. A stream is located 100m to N, meandering through a small, shallow valley of damp ground. The N boundary of the townland coincides with the course of the stream.
Slightly raised subcircular area (26.5m N-S; 30m E-W) defined SE−NNW by a gravelly earth bank (Wth 2.8m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.4m at W), topped with stones; at NW−E by a levelled scarp, and at E−SSE by a field wall, which respects the curve of the ringfort.
There is a fosse outside the bank, which is evident on the E arc as a shallow depression (Wth 3m; D 0.3m) and at S−NW is defined on its outer edge by a field wall, which arcs around the ringfort at a distance of c. 3m outside the bank. There is a gap (Wth 1.8m) in the enclosing bank at SSE.
The interior is domed, sloping down gently from centre to the perimeter at S−SE and more steeply from centre to N−NE. The very faint mossy outline of a circular feature (diam. c. 5m), of uncertain significance, is visible in the centre of the interior. There are two shallow depressions on the outer edge of the interior, one (5m NE−SW; 3m NW−SE) abutting the wall at SE and one (3m N−S; 3m E−W) abutting the inner edge of the bank at S. A field wall/property boundary crosses the interior on a N−S axis to W of centre. A roughly square drystone vernacular structure (max. dim. 2m) abuts the outer face of the field wall on the SE arc of the rath.
