The National Monuments Service's description
In rolling pasture, located on a low rise, with good views, especially to NW−NE.
This bivallate rath consists of a raised circular area (35.5m E−W; 36.9m N−S) defined by a substantial earthen bank, and enclosed by a fosse with slight remnants of an external bank.
The inner bank (Wth 6.3m at N, 9.8m at S; int. H 1.1m at N, 1.6m at S; ext. H 1.8m at N, 3.3m at S) is best preserved at SSE−W. It has a broad internal slump which gives the rath a slightly dished profile. The fosse is evident as a broad shallow depression (Wth 4.5-5m at N) at W−NE, but is barely discernible elsewhere. The external bank has been levelled but its ephemeral outline can still be traced in parts; it has been truncated at E−SE by an avenue leading N to Barleyhill House.
The interior is level. The entrance may have been at E where there is an irregular gap/slump (Wth c. 2m) in the inner bank.
