Megalithic structure

In pasture, located on a slight rise.
A large split boulder (L; 2.8m N−S; Wth 1.6m; T 0.8m), roughly D-shaped in profile, rests with its flat side downwards on three smaller stones. Two of the support stones lie parallel at N (L 1.2m N−S; Wth c. 0.5m; H 0.75m) and S (L 1.45m N−S; Wth 0.9m; H 0.3-0.5m), and the third, much smaller support stone ( L c. 0.6m; H 0.25m) is at E. The unequal height of the support stones gives the large boulder a pronounced tilt downwards to S and E. In the space beneath, there is a low earthen rise, topped with small stones. A number of loose, large stones, probably field clearance, lie close to the structure.
This arrangement of stones, rather haphazard in appearance, is of uncertain antiquity. It was assessed by the Megalithic Survey of Ireland as an 'artifical megalithic structure -remains insufficient to classify it as a meglaithic tomb.'
There is a rath (MA039-011----) c. 100m to NW and another (MA039-012----) c. 100m to SW.
