The National Monuments Service's description
In lowlying damp pasture. A layer (L c. 5m; D. 0.45m) of heat-shattered stone fragments in a charcoal-rich matrix is visible in both section faces of a NW-SE field drain (Wth 1.20m). A layer (D 0.3-0.5m) of peaty soil and sod overlies the burnt layer. At its SE end the burnt layer can be traced extending for c. 1m along the section face of a second drain, which branches to the NNE. An old grassed-over farm track (Wth 4m) borders the SW side of the NW-SE drain. Another burnt mound (MA038-186----) is located 20m to NNW.
