The National Monuments Service's description
In pasture, located on a ridge, close to the break of slope on the SE where the slope falls to an area of wet, boggy ground. The townland boundary is c. 30m to S.
Named ‘Rathnaguppan’ on the 1838 and 1922 OS 6-inch maps, this rath consists of a raised circular area (25.2m NE–SW; c. 25m NW–SE) defined by a bank (W 5-5.5m; int. H 0.4-0.45m; ext. H 1.7m) of gravelly earth. A few stones protrude randomly from the inner face of the bank, possibly remnants of a kerb or facing. The interior is level and featureless. A gap (Wth 3m) in the bank at SSE may indicate the original entrance. The perimeter id ringed with hazel, blackthorn and hawthorn. There is another rath (MA038-083----) c. 90m to SSW, and a standing stone (MA038-150----) 80m to W.
