The National Monuments Service's description
In average pasture, located on a low NW–SE ridge, which provides good views in all directions.
Raised, sub-circular area (36.6m NNW–SSE; 34.2m ENE–WSW) defined by a scarp (Wth slope 3-4m; ext. H 2m). At SE–SW the scarp is topped by a low stony rim or bank (Wth 1.6-2m; int. H 0.4-0.6m); it is unclear whether this is a remnant of the original bank or of a later field bank.
In the S half of the interior, there is a level area (18.6m NNW–SSE; c. 10-15m ENE–WSW) which is at a slightly higher level that the rest of the interior. It is defined on ENE sides by a slight scarp (H 0.2m) from which interior ground level slopes down gently to N and NE.
The original entrance to the rath may be at the SE where a break in the bank (W 1.4m) faces a low spine of ground extending beyond the rath to SE. There is also a low, eroded section or break (Wth 4m) in the scarp at N.
On the 1930 OS 6-inch map the rath is shown closely boxed in on four sides by later field boundaries. The field fences are extant at W, clipping the external slope of the rath, and at N, but those to E and S of the rath have been levelled.
The interior is grass-covered, with hawthorn, blackthorn and brambles on the perimeter.
