The National Monuments Service's description

Located 2m E of a cliff that drops to a rocky shore, on the NW side of Killala Bay. Immediately to W the ground dips into a depression and then rises to a low ridge.
Not shown on the 1838 and 1922 OS 6-inch maps. Listed in the SMR (1991) and the RMP (1997) as a possible earthwork. This possible mound is evident as an oval rise (31.7m NW–SE; 29.5m NE–SW; H 3.25m at W, 1.6m), with steeply sloping sides on the S and W, and a gentler incline at N and E. It has a gently domed profile, with a slightly flattened area (c. 10m NW–SE; c. 6m NE–SW) on top. Remnants of a field wall can be seen mid-way down the S slope, following the contours of the mound at S–SW, and continuing to W beyond the mound. The exact nature of this feature is uncertain –it may be natural.
