The National Monuments Service's description

In modern coniferous forest plantation, 220m E of Barranahown River that forms townland boundary with Moorestown. Three standing stones (LI048-065002/004-) located in N and S quadrant of earthwork. Souterrain (LI048-062----) lies 200m to the SW. Shown on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map as a polygonal-shaped field boundary with building in N quadrant. Not depicted as an antiquity on this map but as a large polygonal shaped field or haggard area belonging to the building depicted standing in the N quadrant. Shown on the Cassini ed. OSi 6-inch map as a large semi-circular shaped area (dims. c. 62m N-S; 90m E-W) defined by a scarp, transected at N by post 1700 field boundary, with Pillar Stones in N and S quadrant of earthwork. In 1998 O’Leary (SMR File) described this earthwork as follows; ‘The semi-circle is defined on the ground as a ditch most clearly seen in the southwest enclosing an area of circa 85m in diameter. The ground falls gently to the east, south and west; the interior basically level; no evidence of a bank.’ Monument visible as a semi-circular shaped area of unplanted trees surrounded by forestry plantation on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages.

See attached photograph and section drawings by P. O’Leary and Google Earth orthoimages.
