The National Monuments Service's description
On a low rise, at NW edge of a quarry associated with Limerick Cement Factory, overlooking the River Shannon to N and E. Depicted on the 1840 OS 6-inch map as a circular shaped platform. Shown on the OS 25-inch map as an oval-shaped tree-planted sunken hollow (approx. 25m NE-SW; 22m NW-SE). Levelled monument described in 1994 as a faint trace of a curvilinear mound which is currently defined by field clearance material that has accumulated around an ESB pole at this point (Celie O’Rahilly Field Report 1994). According to O’ Rahilly any ringforts in this area are likely to have been stone built given that limestone occurs at such a high level below the ground surface (ibid). The extant remains may represent a levelled cashel. Monument has been quarried away and the site is now located in the centre of a large opencast quarry as shown on Google Earth orthoimage taken 19/11/2019.
