The National Monuments Service's description
A togher (L 750m; Wth 2.5m; D 0.23m), noted in 1988, orientated ENE-WSW, consisted of a superstructure of transverse roundwood and split stems, which had been laid on a substructure of longitudinal runners and transverse roundwood. There was evidence that a metal tool had been used. Dendrochronological dating revealed a date range of 2259±9 BC (Q7918). When inspected in 1999 the togher extended over the milled surface of twelve fields for an overall distance of 225m. It comprised longitudinal parallel roundwood (diam. 0.06-0.10m), brushwood (diam. 0.02-0.06m) and twigs. A small number of transverse pieces of brushwood of similar diameter were also visible and one worked chisel-point end was noted (Dunne 1999, 99LBW0008A-I). (Raftery 1990, 11-14; 1996, Corlea 6, 71-8)
