The National Monuments Service's description

Situated at the bottom a gentle E-facing slope and at the edge of a raised peat bog that extends off to the E and S. First identified in centre-line testing (05E0983) for a new line of the N4 (O’Connor et al. 2005, 42), and later fully excavated (E003310) as a part of Aghamore 2. Excavation recorded five spreads of burnt mound material, other smaller spreads and two kilns. This consists of a burnt mound (dims 4m x 2.4m; T 0.25m) and a nearby smaller spread (dims 3.2m x 2.9m; max. T 0.3m) which may be related and together covered a large area (dims 12.5m ENE-W; 8.2m NNW-SSE). The combined mounds covered a trough (dims 1.44m x 1.2m; D 0.45-0.55m) that was filled with two layers of burnt and cracked sandstone, while the smaller spread covered a subrectangular pit (dims 1.6m x 0.9m; max. D 0.27m) filled largely with sand. (McGowan and O’Connor 2009, 16-17)
