The National Monuments Service's description

Situated at the bottom a gentle E-facing slope and at the edge of a raised peat bog that extends off to the E and S. First identified in centre-line testing (05E0983) for a new line of the N4 (O’Connor et al. 2005, 42), and later fully excavated (E003310) as a part of Aghamore 2. Excavation recorded five spreads of burnt mound material, other smaller spreads and two kilns. This is a mound of broken and burnt stone (dims 5.5m x 4.3m; T 0.05-0.13m) overlying four pits. One shallow pit (diam. 1.5-1.7m; D 0.12m) had a charcoal-rich layer. A larger triangular pit (dims 2.1m x 1.9m; max. D 0.44m) was filled with two layers dominated by burnt stone and charcoal, and a C14 date of 3890 +- 40 BP (2480-2280 Cal. BC) places it at the beginning of the Early Bronze Age. Three post-holes in the mound material surround a trough (dims 2.9m x 2m; D 0.54m), which was filled with four layers, alternately sand and a charcoal and stone mix. A shallow pit (dims 1.7m x 1.2m; D 0.12m) and a lager sub-oval pit (dims 2.1m x 1.9m; max. D 0.44m) nearby are both filled with silty clays with charcoal and stone inclusions.
