The National Monuments Service's description

Situated in mixed woodland at the end of a bulbous peninsula of Corry Point on the N shore of Lough Allen. This was probably a tower house built by McConsava after his wooden house was burnt by O'Donnell in 1530 (AFM, vol. 5, 1399-1401). McConsava was later anglicised to Forde, and the castle is traditionally thought to have been destroyed by Sir Frederick Hamilton c. 1640 (Faughnan 1943, file no. 143). This is a rectangular overgrown structure (dims 12m N-S; 10.45m E-W) defined by a collapsed rubble wall (Wth 1.1m; H 1m) which is built partly over the N moat of the original moated site (LE018-036001-) close to the NW angle. There are traces of an internal division but no architectural features are evident. (McDermott 2019, 116)

The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. Moore (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2003). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
