Situated in mixed woodland at the summit of a bulbous peninsula of Corry Point on the N shore of Lough Allen. This may be the site of the 'best wooden house in Ireland, the house of Mac Consava on Lough Allen' burnt by O'Donnell in 1530 (AFM, vol. 5, 1398-1401). Mac Consava was anglicised to Forde in the 17th century. This is a rectangular area (dims 38-40m E-W; 34m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 2m) and an outer fosse (Wth at base 1.5m; D 0.3-0.5m) which is wet, especially at S. There is no visible entrance. The castle (LE018-036002-) is immediately outside the bank at N close to the NW angle, obscuring the fosse here. (O'Conor and Fredengren 2019, 87-8)
