The National Monuments Service's description
Situated in a basin at the base of a W-facing slope. Archaeological testing (12E0128) over an area of about 10 ha (c. 25 acres) identified four areas of burnt mound material in two adjacent N-S trenches. This deposit of broken and burnt stone (dims 2m x 1m; T 0.2m) was immediately beneath the sod and overlay a peaty clay. A soil sample produced evidence of hazel, willow, ash and oak (McKenna 2013, 6). The deposit was completely excavated. (Hull 2013, 4)
