The National Monuments Service's description

Situated in a basin at the base of a W-facing slope. Archaeological testing (12E0128) over an area of about 10 ha (c. 25 acres) identified four areas of burnt mound material in two adjacent N-S trenches. This was an amorphous deposit (dims 2.5m x 1.5m; T 0.1m) beneath topsoil (D 0.3m), and was completely excavated. Charred hazel, oak and ash were present in a soil sample (McKenna 2013, 6), and a fragment of hazel nut shell produced a C14 date of 3799+-32 BP (2389-2136 cal. BC). (Hull 2013, 3, 9)
