The National Monuments Service's description
At the edge of a waterlogged field. Excavated in 2008 in advance of the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford road scheme (Licence no. E3836). A small pit (0.8m x 0.75m; D 0.22m) filled with heat-shattered stone and charcoal was identified at the N edge of the excavation. This may be part of a burnt mound feature that lies outside the limits of the excavation. Ash charcoal yielded a calibrated radiocarbon date of 1894-1743 BC (UBA-15410). A small hearth, a pit and some stake-holes that may represent a windbreak or shelter were excavated some 28m to the SW. Oak charcoal yielded a calibrated radiocarbon date of 166 BC- AD15 (UBA-15411). (Devine 2010, 231-2, no. 872; Devine and Coughlan 2011)
