The National Monuments Service's description

On a SW-facing slope at the W edge of a ridge of high land. A large sub-square enclosure (dims. c. 80m N-S; c. 81m E-W) with rounded angles, defined by a substantial earthen bank (int. H 1m; ext. H 2-2.85m; Wth 3.3m; overall Wth 7.2m) and outer fosse (Wth 3.2m; D 1.1m). The bank is best preserved from NNW-ESE and elsewhere is defined by a scarp. In places the fosse is filled with soft mud and leaf fill to a depth of up to 0.6m. The interior rises quite significantly as the enclosure surrounds the SW end of a natural NE-SW running ridge, the sides of which slope from SE-S-NW within the interior. The top of the ridge slopes gently towards the NE. There is a gap (Wth 2.5m) in the bank and fosse in the NNE which may be the original entrance though there is some suggestion of degraded bank material. There are trees and scrub growing around perimeter, the interior is under grass. It is known locally as Ráithín Field.
