The National Monuments Service's description

On the N bank of the Dinin river, near the confluence with the Deen river, on a low-lying valley floor. According to the OS Letters (1839, 19-20), of the old church of Dysart, 'the ruins, with the greater part of the burial ground, were swept away by one of the frightful torrents (to which that river is liable) several years ago, a small portion only of the burying ground now remaining, protected by a stone wall on the river side' (O'Flanagan ed. 1930, vol. 1, 7). Carrigan (1905, vol. 2, 162) mentions that, ‘In the churchyard are about half-a-dozen inscribed monuments, dating from 1759 onwards’. The most recent headstone noted during a field visit in 1987 dated to 1909.
On the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map the graveyard is depicted as a roughly rectangular area (dims. c. 40m NW-SE; c. 25m NE-SW) which has been reduced in size by the 1947 revision, with only a wedge-shaped area (dims. c. 40m NW-SE; c. 4m NE-SW at NW end, widening to c. 17m at the SE end) in the northern half of the graveyard being retained as a burial ground. The NW end of this burial ground was subsequently slightly truncated by the construction of a new road (N78 running N-S).
