The National Monuments Service's description
In a low-lying field in pasture at the edge of wetlands and the River Goul to the W. Excavated in 2006 in advance of the Cullahill to Cashel road improvement scheme (Excavation licence no. E2390). A burnt mound (10.2m x 8.7m x 0.02-0.22m) composed of loose black sandy silt with frequent heat-affected stone and charcoal. A sample of hazel returned a radiocarbon date of 2130-1880 cal BC (Poz-26539). A fulacht fia (KK008-164----) was excavated c. 20m to the NE. (Hardy 2009, 288, no. 1100; Hardy and Green 2009)
