The National Monuments Service's description
In a low-lying field in pasture at the edge of wetlands and the River Goul to the W. Excavated in 2006 in advance of the Cullahill to Cashel road improvement scheme (Excavation licence no. E2390). A large burnt mound (15m x 13m x 0.2-0.35m) with frequent amounts of heat-affected stone and charcoal. An oval cut (1.5-1.8m x 0.8m x 0.1-0.2m), lined at the base by worked wooden planks and surrounded by wooden stakes was recorded beneath the mound. A radiocarbon date of 2120-1880 cal BC (Poz-24999) was returned for one of the wooden stakes. A second burnt mound (KK008-196----) was excavated c. 20mm to the SW.
