The National Monuments Service's description

In marshy terrain which is liable to floods. During a pre-development field inspection on 26 June 2007 by Bernice Molloy, Gowen and Co. Ltd. for the NRA, in advance of the construction of the M8, an area of approximately 3m (N-S) by 2m of burnt stone was noted. The monument is adjacent to a stream indicated on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map. It is outside the road-take area and remains undisturbed.
