The National Monuments Service's description
This togher was found as a result of a peatland survey of the proposed Lisheen III wind farm, including the construction of turbines as well as an access road and ancillary works for connection with the electricity grid (Moore et al. 2015). The orientation of the togher suggests that it was built to cross the bog at a narrow point between two dryland spurs, Derrygreenagh to the E and Killoran to the W.Identified at five locations running ENE-WSW. A substantial togher (min. L 65m; Wth c. 3m) composed of large transverse oak timbers, longitudinally laid roundwoods and limestone flags (L 0.4m; Wth 0.13-0.2m; D 0.04-0.2m). The visible sections of the togher have been damaged due to milling and exposure. However, it is likely that parts of the togher survive and that it may extend onto nearby dryland to the E. (Moore et al. 2015, 27-8, 40)
