At base of a NW-facing slope, on the SE bank of the Glashagal River. The view is very limited in all directions as the enclosure lies in a cleft between two areas of high ground. The area is defined on the 1st (1939) ed. 6-inch OS map by a water channel on the E and S side, a field boundary on the W side and the river on the N. It is defined on the 25-inch OS map by a dashed line showing trees the area. A trapezoidal-shaped raised area (int. dims. 10.8m N-S; 9.6m E-W on broader S side; ext. dims. 14m N-S; 10m E-W on narrow S side and 13.6m on broader S side), enclosed by a denuded earthen and stone bank (ext. H 1.25m; int. H 0.65m; max. Wth including slip 2.50m) and outer wide deep fosse (Wth 2m; D 1.5m below field level on S side) on E, S and W sides and the Glashagal River on the N side. The best preserved portion of bank runs from NE-E-SE, with denuded portions surviving at NW and SW angles. Traditionally St Finan's well (KK005-012002-) was located in the fosse at the S end of the W side of the enclosure, the fosse on this W side utilising the stream channel which flowed northward from the well into Glashagal River. This area and the whole fosse is overgrown with briars and saplings. The interior is also heavily overgrown with vegetation. There is no discernible causeway across the fosse. It is possible that this feature may relate to the 19th-century Brenan Estate.
