The National Monuments Service's description
This site, not marked on the OS maps, is located in S sloping pasture overlooking Ballinskelligs Bay to SE. It was recorded as a 'cave' by O'Malley in 1937 (OPW) and comprises a drystone-built passage, roofed with lintels. It is aligned E-W and its entrance was blocked up around 1920 (local information). No apparent surface trace survives.
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 879. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
