The National Monuments Service's description
A circular enclosure is marked at this location on the first edition of the OS map. It was recently levelled, and is remembered locally as an earthen enclosure which had a souterrain (KE080-002001-) in its interior. It measured over 20m in overall diameter, and was located on a slight rise overlooking the Ferta river at N.
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 667. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
