The National Monuments Service's description

Internal diam. 23.6m N-S, 21.3m E-W
Comety Fort/Ceann Mhaighe(?): This ruined caher is located just N of the Caraghbeg river, on slightly elevated ground which overlooks the Caragh river valley to W. A modem field boundary obscures the original line of the enclosing element along its NW sector, and at SW the wall survives only .2m high. Elsewhere it is preserved as a band of stone collapse which averages .8m high and 1.6m wide.
An opening, 1.3m x 1.1m, to an inaccessible souterrain passage (KE072-003001-) occurs in the W quadrant of the site's interior. A second opening is located adjacent to the external base of the enclosing wall at W. The passage appears to run NE-SW, and is of drystone construction.

The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 592. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
