The National Monuments Service's description
Internal diam. 19.3m N-S, 23m E-W
Knockangour/Cnocán na nGabhar: This poorly preserved caher is located within a forestry plantation on the summit of a low rise. Field walls radiate out from its drystone-faced wall, which survives to a maximum height of 1.5m at SW and averages 1.4m wide. An enlarged gap at W, 3m wide, may mark the location of the original entrance. Pine trees have been planted in the interior of the site.
The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 615. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
