The National Monuments Service's description
In rough pasture, at the edge of a bog, on the break of a S-facing slope. The stone (dims. 2m x 0.9m; H c. 3m) is triangular in shape and irregular in plan and orientated NE-SW. It is of sandstone and tapers to a point at the top. This is the 'great Gallan' in Mangan bog that was referred to in the 1940s (MKFC, vol. 2, 700).
