The National Monuments Service's description
Shanasta/Seaneasta (old abode; KE005-091----) is a univallate ringfort consisting of a circular area enclosed by a well-defined bank of earth and stone and an external fosse.
According to local tradition, this ringfort was used as a children's burial ground (KE005-091001-) (John O'Donovan OSNB).
The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 318. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
