The National Monuments Service's description

Situated on the S slopes of Piperstown Hill. A cairn known as Site E. ‘Site E: A small, roughly circular, cairn of stones. It averages about 3-75 m. in diameter and is about 20 cm. in maximum height. At its centre is a hollow about 70 cm. in average diameter, which suggests that this cairn has suffered disturbance. No evidence of a kerb’ (Rynne and Ó hEailidhe 1965, 64). This is part of an extensive settlement and cemetery of Late Neolithic/Early Bronze Age date.
